Our paediatric speech pathology team offers a comprehensive suite of services tailored to children with diverse needs, including those with global developmental delay, language disorders, Autism, ADHD, intellectual disability, and specific learning difficulties like dyslexia.
We can help your child to develop their skills in:
- The production of speech sounds (articulation) and oral movements.
- Using words correctly to talk in sentences (grammar, vocabulary and expressive language skills).
- Understanding what others are saying and following instructions.
- Reading skills (literacy).
- Speaking fluently (stuttering).
- Social and pragmatic skills through a respectful, neuro-diversity affirming lens.
- Using their voice comfortably to reduce strain.
- Using an alternative method of communication such as symbols, signs and pictures.
- Paediatric dysphagia and feeding clinic, led by A/Professor Kelly Weir, a distinguished expert internationally renowned for her clinical work and research contributions.
- Childhood dysarthria and apraxia of speech assessment clinic, guided by Professor Angela Morgan, whose clinical expertise and pioneering research contributions have been seminal in advancing and shaping our understanding of genetic factors in speech disorders. Angela will also assess children who have genetic causes for their speech condition.
- A unique social capacity program for 8 to 15 year-olds, developed by Jess Rowlings and A/Professor Matthew Harrison, from Next Level Collaboration. This innovative program utilises cooperative video games to enhance teamwork skills and support children with social-emotional and neurological learning differences.
- Stuttering care, including a 5-day intensive program where adolescents and adults who stutter learn a fluency technique to control their stuttering, followed by 4 follow-up sessions to assist with maintenance of fluency skills. This program creates an opportunity to meet and work with others who stutter and to build a sense of community.
- School readiness holiday program focusing on foundational literacy skills
